PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man who allegedly tried to flee from officers twice and led them on a foot chase only faces a pair of charges filed by a grand jury, instead of the host of charges he was arrested on.
A grand jury Tuesday filed felony counts of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding against Willie Dawson, 38.
Dawson allegedly threatened to return to Big Al’s downtown with a gun early December 1, but sped off when police tried to stop his vehicle.
He then led officers on a chase, ending on North Arrow, where he fled on foot before being arrested.
A handgun with a spent shell casing was allegedly found in his car.
Dawson is out of cutsody, and is scheduled to be arraigned December 29th.
