PEKIN, Ill. – Writing a book turned out to be cathartic for a longtime Pekin resident.
Patricia Nimmo wrote “Running Blind In Traffic” — and it’s been out since September.
“You’re going to possibly learn that you need to look back before you can look forward,” said Nimmo. “You have to look back at your own life. Mine has has been…what I call a series of sharp left-hand turns.”
Turns, Nimmo tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, that are often unexpected, but necessary to navigate for life.
Nimmo — a native of upstate New York — ended up marrying a man from Pekin, which led her here. Writing her book, she says, came out of learning to play the guitar.
“I’m really a bad guitar player. I’m a terrible practicer.” said Nimmo. “I started writing lyrics. From writing the lyrics, I started just sitting at that computer and just typing. I just did it out of order…then, I got it all together.”
“Running Blind in Traffic” is available at every local bookstore and online through Amazon and Barnes and Noble, among others.
