EAST PEORIA, Ill. – If you wanted a White Christmas, you’re probably going to get it.
But it’s going to be a lot more than just some Christmastime snow, according to 25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins.
“This is a three-pronged storm,” said Collins. “First the snow. Right now, Peoria is in line for at least six inches. Second, blizzard conditions with 55-mile-per-hour wind gusts, causing blowing and drifting, whiteout conditions, and hazardous travel Thursday and Friday. Finally, bitterly cold air on the weekend, with wind chills -15 to -30.”
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Thursday morning until late Friday night.
The Christmas Day high is expected to be 12. But next Monday we’ll be back in to the 20’s.
