PEORIA, Ill. — Groups pushing to develop an entertainment pavilion in central Illinois say they aren’t giving up the fight, despite multiple bouts with rejection before the Peoria Park Board.
For years, advocates have been lobbying to bring an 18-acre entertainment venue to Donovan Park near Junction City in the Peoria-Dunlap area.
They’ve failed every time they’ve brought it up.
Sara Connor-James, President of the non-profit pushing the development, tells 25 News they are now looking at “other people” and “other opportunities”, hinting they may now seek approval from leaders for space in Bloomington-Normal.
She said the group is definitely no longer pursuing park space in Peoria.
Advocates say they hope to raise $25 million in private donations in support of their proposed pavilion development project.
So far, no funding has been raised.
