SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Two more Illinois counties are once again on the list of counties with elevated levels of COVID-19 transmission.
That’s according to the Illinois Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control.
88 out of 102 counties are now at medium or high levels of spreading the disease, as of Friday.
The CDC says all three of our Tri-Counties are now at medium spread levels, with Woodford County having moved up.
23,793 new cases were reported in the last week statewide, almost even with the week before.
“Illinois continues to see most of its communities at elevated risk levels for COVID-19, including 33 counties that are currently at high risk,” said Dr. Sameer Vohra, Director, Illinois Department of Public Health, in a news release. “Although we are seeing some improvement in the number of high risk communities compared to last week, I encourage Illinoisians to continue to use preventative measures as we enter the holiday weekend and enjoy our holiday gatherings.”
