PEORIA, Ill. – The trial of the parents charged with the murder of their eight-year-old son will not start next month as planned.
A Peoria County judge Thursday okayed delaying the trials of Brandon Walker, 41, and Stephanie Jones, 36, until at least next June.
That’s more than a year after the two were indicted by a grand jury on First-Degree Murder charges for the death of Navin Jones.
25 News reports a judge will consider in January a request by the public defenders for the two a request to separate their trials.
Young Navin died in a Peoria hospital in late-March, allegedly underweight, malnourished, and injured.
Walker and Stephanie Jones remain jailed on $5 million bond apiece.
