PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man convicted last October for the death of his father will spend the better part of 60 years in prison.
Peoria County Court records say a judge Thursday sentenced Mark Runyon, 43, to that time in prison, for which he must serve 100 percent before he can be released.
He is receiving day for day credit for the time he’s served in jail since his 2018 arrest.
Prosecutors say Runyon struck his father Frank at a home on Stanley Street in May of 2018, then failed to seek medical attention for him.
He was rushed to a hospital when he was found, but Frank Runyon died five days later.
Checks by other family members on Frank Runyon failed, and Mark didn’t answer the door when police arrived.
