PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury this week filed charges in connection with four shooting incidents that occurred in recent months, according to court records.
The grand jury filed charges of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking against Patrick Meyer, 24, Manito (pictured above).
While the indictment acknowledges the shooting December 14th at the Shell station at Knoxville and Nebraska, a charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm charge was not filed. The shooting left a man injured but he survived. The man’s car was later recovered.
Meyer remains jailed.
Jarrod Rice, 32, Peoria, is being charged with counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
The shooting occurred last November 6th outside the Glen Oak Quick Stop on East McClure in the East Bluff area. It’s not clear if anyone was injured.
Rice pleaded not guilty at an arraignment Thursday morning. He’s scheduled to be back in court March ninth, with a trial starting as soon as March 20th.
A Peoria County grand jury is charging Tyrell Logan, 17, Peoria, with a Class-X felony count of Aggravated Battery.
The shooting happened December 9th in the area of Lexington Hills Apartments on West Fallen Oak Lane. Police said at the time a 16-year-old male was found inside an apartment there, shot multiple times, but with non-life-threatening injuries.
Logan was arrested about ten days after the shooting, and remains in custody.
The grand jury filed charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon against Charles Jackson, 63.
The shooting happened during the late-morning hours on West Joan Court near Sheridan Road December 9th. The male victim told police he and Jackson had been arguing when Jackson left and came back with a gun, shooting him in the hand. The injury was said to be minor.
Charges of Aggravated Assault and Reckless Conduct were not filed.
Jackson pleaded not guilty Thursday, and is scheduled to be back in court March 16th, ahead of a potential March 27th trial.
