WEST PEORIA, Ill. – Authorities have identified the victim of Sunday’s fatal shooting of a Decatur man in West Peoria.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identifies the victim as Stashaun Wheeler, but says preliminary autopsy results won’t be available until Tuesday.
Wheeler was shot by two people in the parking lot of Casey’s on Farmington Road in West Peoria around 4:00 a.m.
The two alleged shooters are believed to have fled on foot westbound from the scene, possibly to a getaway car nearby.
No other information is available. But, you can call the sheriffs department or CrimeStoppers if you saw something.

WEST PEORIA, Ill. – West Peoria has recorded the area’s first homicide of the year.
The Peoria County Sheriffs Department says it happened early Sunday morning.
Sheriffs deputies, Peoria Police and Fire, and West Peoria Fire all responded to a Casey’s location on Farmington Road in West Peoria around 4:05 a.m., where two people are believed to have shot at a man so far identified as an adult male from Decatur several times before fleeing the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, in a parking lot. The Peoria County Coroner is expected to conduct an autopsy before releasing more information.
The suspects are believed to have been armed with guns, and officials say left the scene westbound, possible into a car waiting nearby.
No suspects are currently in custody.
