PEORIA, Ill. – When the Bradley Braves men’s basketball team performs well, a local non-profit will benefit.
The Braves’ NIL collective “Home of the Brave” announced on Wednesday that half of new pledges for the rest of the season will be split between the collective and Peoria Friendship House.
Friendship House CEO and former Brave Marcellus Sommerville tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan Show” the money raised will go towards programs that empower families.
“We do that through our youth development, as well as our adult educational classes. And overall, just distributing food,” Sommerville said.
Home of the Brave co-founder Joe Messmore says the money will be raised with each rebound grabbed or three-pointer made by the Braves, starting with the Feb. 1st home game against Southern Illinois.
“You can pledge anywhere from 25 cents a rebound to as much as you desire,” Messmore said.
As of Feb. 1st, Bradley is averaging 8.3 three-pointers made per game and 35.7 rebounds.
Fans can go online to hotbrave.com and enter their credit card information to make the pledges.
