PEORIA, Ill. – A house fire did serious damage to a home late Thursday morning in the West Bluff area.
Peoria firefighters say it appears a cigarette butt may have started the blaze around 10:45 a.m. at a home near Columbia Terrace and Orange Street.
Firefighters say they saw heavy fire coming from the front of the home when they arrived, but they were able to get the fire under control in about an hour and 15 minutes.
One resident is displaced, and officials say one firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Damage was estimated at around $60,000.
