PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Fire Department is promoting from within for a new assistant fire chief.
Tony Cummings has been with the department since May 22, 2000. Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger says he will take over the role from Rick Morgan, who is retiring after 29 years of service to the Peoria Fire Department.
In his career with the PFD, Cummings has served as the Division Chief of Operations, as well as an Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief of EMS. He has also served on their Hazardous Material Team.
Cummings has been a paramedic in the Peoria community for 23 years and has been an instructor to paramedics and EMTs in the fire department.
Cummings is a 1992 graduate of Peoria High. He has received degrees from Illinois Central College, Western Illinois University, and Arizona State University.
