PEORIA, Ill. — Following the discovery of a alleged Chinese spy balloon over Montana on Thursday, Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood says we need to keep a very close eye on China.
“I don’t trust the Chinese in this, because I’ve seen their malign activities elsewhere. So, it’s concerning to me, but we need to get the facts and evidence,” LaHood says.
LaHood tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy asked for a briefing with the “Gang of Eight”, the nation’s top military leaders, Friday morning, to get specific information about potential spying.
LaHood was recently appointed to serve on the Select Committee on China and also serves on the Intelligence Committee.
LaHood says his biggest concern in regards to the Chinese balloon is the security of U.S. assets in Montana, the home to our nuclear arsenal and air base there.
LaHood says, “Make no mistake, the Chinese have an agenda, they want to replace us. And, don’t forget, China is Russia’s closest ally in the war on Ukraine.
