PEORIA, Ill. — A fire early Tuesday morning at Allied Iron and Steel in Peoria has caused $500,000 damage.
Crews were called to the business on Clark Street around 3:45 a.m. A passerby reported the fire from Rt. 29.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada says heavy fire and smoke could be seen coming from the single-story building, with part of the roof collapsed, and several walls in danger of collapsing.
Multiple crews and an aerial truck were brought in to fight the flames, which was under control by about 6:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
Railroad service across Clark Street was closed for several hours, and crews were expected to be on-scene for most of the morning.
