PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County judge has overturned the Peoria County Election Commission’s decision to toss a candidate for Peoria School Board off the April election ballot.
In a decision filed Thursday, a judge ruled Keisha Alexander’s name should be put back on the ballot, and that the objection by District-1 opponent and school board president Martha Ross was denied.
The judge ruled that even though 53 of Alexander’s signatures to get on the ballot had clerical errors from a notary public, the error wasn’t bad enough to cause the signatures to be invalidated.
Ross’ attorney reportedly didn’t even show up for Tuesday’s hearing on the matter.
Alexander recently filed to be a write-in candidate for the board.
