SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Transportation is urging the public to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday responsibly.
State and local police will be out looking for drunk drivers who may have parties a bit too hard during the big game.
I-DOT Spokesperson Paul Wappel reminds everyone there are plenty of options if you’ve been drinking.
“Designate a sober driver ahead of time, use Uber or a ride-sharing app, or call a cab. And, if anybody sees any impaired drivers, please call 911 right away,” Wappel says.
If you’re hosting a party, Wappel says, it’s a good idea to stop serving drinks after the third quarter and break out the coffee.
“There’s just no excuse for risking your life and the lives of others. Take the keys away from anybody who’s thinking of driving impaired,” Wappel says.
