SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday said a few more counties are at an elevated risk for COVID-19.
The department says 19 counties are at a medium community level, compared to 14 the week prior. Despite that increase, no counties are at a high community level after there was one county at that level last week.
10,813 new cases of COVID were confirmed in the past week, along with 68 deaths related to the virus.
“We are happy to report no counties are at a high COVID-19 community level this week,” IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra said. “However, we do know that the virus is still circulating with the potential to cause serious illness, especially to those most at-risk. IDPH is continuing to monitor COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses in our communities closely as we work on an orderly transition to the end of the statewide disaster declaration and national public health emergency.”
Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties were at a low risk level. Although neighboring Logan County to the south was elevated from low to medium.
