CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois Governor J-B Pritzker says he’s joining with other states in trying to address the issue of reproductive rights.
Pritzker says he’s joined the “Reproductive Freedom Alliance” — described as a non-partisan group that will exchange ideas about how to better protect women’s health rights.
“We do — when we get the opportunity to, but we haven’t…had…an opportunity to share those ideas,” said Pritzker. “We have good ideas in Illinois that need to be shared with other states. I’m happy to be part of (the alliance) — both to receive information, and also to provide it.”
The Governor says there’s still work to do, especially those from out of state who go to other states to seek reproductive health care.
“The question is, will other states try to hold somebody liable who comes from their state to Illinois, or to any other state where reproductive rights are protected, to exercise those rights, and then they return back to their home state, will they be prosecuted in those states? And, how do we prevent that?”
Pritzker claims eleven states currently have full bans on abortions, and more states restrict access.
