PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in the Peoria area are on a downward trend.
GasBuddy in its weekly report says the average price of a gallon of unleaded gas is $3.52. That’s down 3.3 cents from last week.
The local average is 8 cents lower than a month ago, and 32 cents lower from a year ago. Prices are still higher than they were two years ago, when the average price was $2.86/gallon.
GasBuddy says the lowest price in the Peoria area was $3.31, while the most expensive was $3.79.
Across Illinois…the average price of gas went up 2.4 cents to $3.51/gallon. The lowest price found in the state was $2.95, with the highest being $4.79.
National averages are similar to what’s being seen in the Peoria area.
GasBuddy says the national average is down 4.3 cents to $3.33/gallon.
“The national average has resumed its decline after a pause last week as oil and wholesale gasoline prices fell on worrisome inflation figures showing the Fed likely to ramp up rates to slow inflation,” GasBuddy petroleum analysis Patrick De Hann said.
AAA says the average price of gas in the Peoria-Pekin metro area is $3.55/gallon. That’s down 1.4 cents compared to a week ago, down 9.1 cents from a month ago, and down 25.5 cents from a year ago.
