PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says a homicide from more than six years ago remains unsolved, and detectives need help solving it.
Watkins says a skull washed up on the shore of the Illinois River near Kingston Mines in June of 2017 that was later matched to a torso recovered from the Illinois River in Schuyler County discovered more than six months before, eventually identified through DNA samples as John Frisch, 56.
Frisch had limited family in the area, and used addresses in Peoria and in Hawaii.
Investigators have been trying to retrace Frisch’s life leading up to his body being found, but still don’t have much to go on.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood previously determined that Frisch died due to blunt force trauma.
