CHICAGO, Ill. – You know all the “Chicago” shows legendary TV producer Dick Wolf puts out?
They’re largely produced in Illinois, and the shows helped contribute to the state’s record year last year for film and TV production — $691 million in revenue — according to Governor JB Pritzker.
“Production for Apple TV+’s hotly-anticipated sci-fi series ‘Dark Matter’ commenced in Chicago this last October. And HBO Max’s ‘Somebody Somewhere’ recently wrapped filming in Lockport,” said Pritzker.
That’s in addition to “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago PD,” along with “The Bear.”
Jason Beghe of “Chicago PD” was part of a news conference Friday in Chicago to announce the figures.
“I’ve worked all over the world. But, truly, the crews here in Chicago are the best in the world,” said Beghe.
A number of Illinois productions have made their way into awards, and the state’s film industry was recently featured in “Variety.”
Pritzker credits a workforce training program that’s in place for film-making, tax credits for production, and what he says are amazing locations.
