PEORIA, Ill. – A Stark County woman is pleading guilty to a federal charge accusing her of trying to defraud a big Peoria employer.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Erica Hornof, 36 of Bradford, pleaded guilty Monday to three counts each of mail fraud and wire fraud, and will be sentenced June 15th.
Prosecutors say Hornof, while a lead repair technician for Maui Jim sunglasses, stole sunglasses parts, assembling sunglasses she then sold on E-Bay, using a PayPal account to collect the money.
An internal investigation by Maui Jim led to the charges being filed, according to the U.S. Attorney.
Hornof, who remains free on bond, could face as much as 20 years in prison when she’s sentenced.
