PEORIA, Ill. – The woman who was found dead in the Illinois River north of the Riverplex in downtown Peoria has been identified.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says preliminary autopsy results on Tamara Schaidle, 58, indicate she passed away from drowning. Her body was found before 11 a.m. Tuesday by a passerby, Harwood says, partially in water.
Harwood says he’s collaborating with Peoria Police, and that “further studies and tests are pending.”
The manner of death remains under investigation. Schaidle had been reported as missing, according to family members, just the night before.
