PEORIA, Ill. -Parts of Central Illinois got lucky, despite the National Weather Service calling for potentially dangerous severe weather Friday.
A round of severe thunderstorms pelted Central Illinois Friday afternoon, with some damage being reported.
The awning at the Clark Station on Harmon Highway in Peoria was partially taken apart. No one was reported to be hurt.
The National Weather Service says thunderstorm wind damage was being reported to barns near Deer Creek in Woodford County, with hail mostly an inch and a half in diameter in Peoria County.
Fulton County had a report of hail nearly softball size, along with a report of golf ball size hail near Banner damaging multiple vehicles.
There was a confirmed report of a tornado near Eureka, and one in Mason County.
A second round of storms early Friday evening caused numerous warnings north and south of Peoria, with a tornado being reported in Sangamon County. No major reports of damage in the Peoria area, however.
