UPDATED 4:04 P.M.
FULTON COUNTY, Ill. – Tuesday’s big tornado that caused lots of damage in Fulton County travelled further than the National Weather Service originally thought.
The Weather Service in Lincoln says further review of the EF-3 tornado indicated it actually first touched down about a mile south of Ipava, instead of just east of town.
That increases the path the storm travelled to almost 21 miles.
It’s still believed the storm — with peak winds of 160 miles per hour — then moved northeast going through parts of Lewistown and Bryant before dissipating southwest of Canton.
Ameren Illinois reports no more power outages in the area, as of Friday afternoon.
Fulton County ESDA says Illinois 100 in the area is once again open to traffic after damage caused by the storms.
Also, Illinois Emergency Management Agency head Alicia Tate-Nadeau toured damage Friday in the Fulton County area.
Meantime, the Fulton County Sheriffs Department has released bodycam video from inside a squad car that got hit with significant damage during the tornado.
The deputy wasn’t hurt. Watch the video below.
