PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County handed down indictments in a number of local cases Tuesday. Here are details of some of the more notable ones.
The grand jury is charging Dwayne Daye, Jr. (pictured above), 22, with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Daye is accused of firing a gun in the direction of another man March 25th near Malone Street and Madison Park Terrace. He was arrested a few days later, allegedly trying to flee when his car was pulled over, and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine was found. Daye is to be arraigned a week from Thursday. He remains jailed on $75,000 bond.

The grand jury is charging Tavion Young, 18, with felony Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Two other charges Young was arrested on April 3 were not filed. Young was allegedly behind the wheel asleep in his car near Knoxville and Giles when the handgun was allegedly found in his vehicle. Young posted bond and was released from jail, but is scheduled for arraignment next Thursday.
The grand jury charged Ronald Potter, Jr., 36, with Aggravated Robbery. Charges including Armed

Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Aggravated Battery were not filed. Potter, who is currently in Department of Corrections custody after being found in violation of parole during the arrest, allegedly implied he had a weapon in his possession during a robbery attempt April 8th. Prison records indicate Potter has been convicted several times since 2005 on weapons, burglary, forgery, and felony drug charges in both Henry and Stark Counties. An arraignment hearing in this case has not yet been scheduled.
All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
