PEORIA, Ill. – A Canton man will be spending almost seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty last December to having methamphetamine in his possession earlier last year.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says Derek Lee Pollitt, 37, was given an 81 month sentence in a Peoria federal courtroom on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.
Prosecutors say Canton Police pulled Pollitt’s vehicle over in April of last year, discovering a large bag with meth inside, along with various other pills and cash.
Authorities believe Pollitt used the service CashApp to transfer money to customers and drug suppliers.
Pollitt could have received as much as 40 years in prison.
