SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — More Illinois students will soon have access to health services at school thanks to new funding coming to the state.
The federal government has approved a state proposal to expand the Illinois School-Based Health Services Program to include all kids enrolled in Medicaid.
State Healthcare and Family Services Spokesperson Evan Fazio says care includes physical therapy, preventative care, behavioral health needs and more.
“With this new Medicaid expansion in the school-based healthcare services programs, we are easing the financial strain, enhancing healthcare access and ensuring academic success,” Fazio said.
The program was previously only open to children receiving Medicaid benefits who have a School Individual Education Plan or I-E-P.
