MORTON, Ill. – An estimated $1 million in damage was done by Thursday’s fire at Morton Industries.
That’s according to Morton Fire Chief Joe Kelly, who says the blaze, first reported around 2:45 p.m., started on plastic pallets at the back of the building.
Kelly tells 25 News the fire did spread into the inside the building, causing some damage to the steel structure of an outer wall.
Crews spent the better part of five hours on the scene, and right now the building is divided in such a way that only half of the building is in use right now.
No one was hurt, and the damage is said to be repairable.
