PEORIA, Ill. – It might be a little difficult to believe given that many gas stations in the Peoria area now seem to be hovering close to four dollars a gallon, but two agencies say in a week over week basis, the average price went down.
GasBuddy.com says its survey of 148 Peoria stations shows prices have fallen 6.6 cents, now averaging $3.80 per gallon.
AAA, meanwhile, has its current Peoria-Pekin metro average at about $3.83 a gallon — down 1.2 cents from Sunday, and 3.5 cents from a week ago.
GasBuddy claims with national averages also continuing to fall, there is additional selling pressure on oil prices.
Illinois’ average is at $4.03 a gallon, while the national average is at $3.61, both according to AAA, and both are said to be lower.
AAA’s Peoria-Pekin metro average price for diesel is at nearly $4.15, down two and a half cents from Sunday, and 1.5 cents lower from a week ago.
