PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria teenager has pleaded guilty to his role in a shooting death almost three years ago.
Peoria County Circuit Court records indicate Ladarrius Mason, now 19, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a count of Second Degree Murder, and was sentenced to seventeen years in prison. Mason could have received as much as 20 years in prison.
Second-Degree Murder, which was filed in this case this week, differs from First-Degree if the alleged shooter acted under a belief that they would be justified in committing said murder, but that belief is unreasonable.
Mason shot Donald Allen, 28, September 26, 2020 near Faraday and Humboldt.
Mason could receive credit for time already served in jail, along with good-time credit, that could lessen the sentence.
