PEORIA, Ill. – Like we needed another reminder that it’s severe weather season in Illinois.
We got such a reminder Saturday night, and 25 News First Alert Meteorologist Chuck Collins says we may very well get another Sunday night.
“Although we could see some isolated strong storms Sunday afternoon, the main event comes after 11 Sunday night,” said Collins. “Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. Flash Flooding is also a concern, especially in areas that received heavy rain Saturday night and Sunday morning.”
Flash flooding and heavy rain were the primary problems from Saturday night’s rounds of storms. Most areas saw around 1.6 inches of rain, but an area outside of Washington reported almost two inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
