PEORIA, Ill. – There weren’t a lot of reports of major damage from the second round of severe weather to hit the Tri-Counties during the weekend, but most of the damage reports were of the same problem.
Storm reports submitted to the National Weather Service indicated numerous reports of downed tree branches and at least one downed tree in places like Washington, Morton, and Pekin.
Wind gusts were clocked at near 60 miles per hour in the Pekin area.
There were plenty of reports of downed power lines and leaning power poles throughout part of the area as well, with thousands of Ameren customers without power at one point, and long wait times to try and report an outage.
There were a few reports of minor damage done in Peoria County from the storms.
Peoria officials said Sunday night that Howett was closed as Western Avenue due to a tree blocking the road, and Forrest Hill from Isabel to Parish was closed due to downed electrical wires.
Early Monday morning, officials said wires were down at Gift and Wisconsin in Peoria.
