PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Police Chief is singing a familiar refrain after what he says was a busy Friday night for his force.
Chief Eric Echevarria says four people were arrested Friday night — he did not give names — after a series of “pop-up parties” that happened downtown, in some cases, causing tire-based damage to parking lots because of burnouts.
After saying he wasn’t going to deal with all of it last year after some similar instances, Echevarria is repeating that this year.
“We will assign detectives to review videos, and we will follow up on those videos,” said Echevarria, to reporters Saturday. “And, if we have to come on sight, if we have to come make an arrest, if we have to come tow your car on a later date, we will do that.”
Tire skid marks can be seen on several parking lots along both Main and Water Streets downtown.
“We are not going to tolerate any crime that happens in our city,” said Echevarria. “As I’m talking today we’re not going to tolerate any crime in our downtown.”
No word on if there were any similar disturbances Saturday night.
