PEORIA, Ill. – There could be some more apartments, and more parking, in Peoria’s Warehouse District at some point in the future.
The Peoria City Council voted Tuesday night to purchase two parcels on Southwest Washington from the Downtown Development Corporation.
“We are looking at a future development that could bring about 175 new residential units into that area, on the corner of Southwest Washington,” said Kimberly Richardson, Assistant City Manager. “The acquisition of this property will allow us to have the ability to control the site.”
Richardson who says residential parking will be needed in that area, also says additional purchases will likely be needed, and some other land for parking was purchased last year.
$250,000 in Tax Increment Financing District money is being used to buy the land.
