SPRINGFIELD, Ill. β The Illinois House is concerning several changes to the cannabis industry in the state.
According to Capitol News Illinois, it seeks to overhaul portions of the 2019 cannabis legalization law. At the time, the law sought to address the disproportionate impact cannabis criminalization had on communities of color.
One of the proposed changes in the bill would add options for people to pick up their purchases.
βIt allows for dispensaries to operate drive-thru windows and offer curbside pickup services,β said La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago), sponsor of the bill in the house.
Another proposal includes increasing the size of canopy space for craft growers from 5,000 square feet to 14,000 square feet.
It would also allow for virtual examinations for prospective medical cannabis patients and ends a requirement that marijuana needs to be in an odor-proof container.
