CHICAGO, Ill. (Fox News) — The border crisis has expanded to cities across the US — as Texas, overwhelmed by record-high migrant crossings in recent years, has continuously bussed migrants to “sanctuary cities” like Chicago.
More than 10,000 have arrived in the Windy City so far, many who came to the US border with no plans and were told they would have luck finding work in Chicago.
Some are still sleeping in police stations that have turned into unsanitary and often disease ridden places.
On Chicago’s violence-plagued south side, migrants were brought to an abandoned school that’s been transformed into a temporary shelter.
Many minority activists say the $51 million recently dedicated to migrants by the city of Chicago could have been used to help people already in those troubled communities.
Others complain the migrants were dumped in their neighborhood with no real public notification and a bad element came with them.
Some have been raising funds to help the new arrivals.
