PEORIA, Ill. – A West Peoria mother and father are both facing criminal charges, after their underweight 6-month-old child ended up in the hospital with a broken right arm and leg.
According to 25 News, 19-year-old Destinee McKenzie and 30-year-old Oliver Cleveland, were arrested Monday, a week after their baby boy went to the Emergency Room at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria with those injuries, weighing just 8 pounds.
Police believe the parents also failed to take the boy and his twin brother to the doctor for 6 months.
They face aggravated battery, child endangerment and neglect charges.
