Coroner: Cause of death so far ‘inconclusive’ for homeless man found behind Campustown restaurant

PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner says the death of a man whose body was found behind a restaurant in Campustown remains inconclusive.

Coroner Jamie Harwood says that’s so far the finding in the case of Robert Moore, 75, who was reported to be homeless. Moore’s body was found behind the Campustown Subway late Sunday morning.

Harwood says Moore had multiple medical issues, but he’s not sure yet specifically what caused Moore’s death, pending more tests and toxicology exams.

Harwood says, though, he doesn’t believe trauma or foul play were involved, and calls the death “an unfortunate circumstance that happens to our elderly unhoused.”
