PEORIA, Ill. – We’re learning more about the people who may have left seven abandoned dogs on a boat along the Illinois River in July.
Fon du Lac Park Police say officers were called to the same boat Sunday around 9:30 p.m. after another dog was found on the boat.
Chief Chance Barlow tells 25 News Robert Recaldini, Jr., 41, and Amanda O’Neill, 23 – both listed as being Pennsylvania residents – got into a confrontation with animal control officers who tried to remove the dog since it didn’t have required vaccinations.
Recaldini reportedly claimed he would “burn Peoria to the ground.”
The two face Aggravated Battery and Resisting Arrest charges, and remain in the Peoria County Jail.
Of the seven original abandoned dogs, at least one had passed away.
