PEORIA, Ill. – A teenager has been arrested in connection with a Peoria shooting last month.
The night of Saturday, July 15, Peoria Police were called to the area of N. Gale and Institute Place on reports of shots fired.
A 26-year-old man, who had been shot, was taken by private vehicle to a hospital in critical condition. Officers found evidence of the shooting in a parking lot near Parkview Estates.
During an investigation, Peoria Police detectives identified a 16-year-old male as one of the people shooting a firearm at the scene.
On Wednesday, August 16, a 16-year-old male turned himself in to the PPD.
Peoria Police Spokesperson Semone Roth says the teen was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm under 21, then taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
Peoria Police are still investigating.
