PEORIA, Ill. – No one was hurt, but a Peoria home had an estimated $50,000 in damage done by a fire Wednesday afternoon.
Peoria Fire says crews were called to the home on Kneer, near Grinnell Street, around 1:40 p.m. They say smoke could be seen coming from the roof when they arrived, so they fought the fire, in their words, aggressively.
No people were inside the home and no one was hurt, but officials say ten dogs and two cats were saved, and all are expected to be okay.
Firefighters say the fire was caused by a stove that was left on.
