UPDATED 3:56 P.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – One person was sent to the hospital after a truck crashed into a house Thursday afternoon in North Peoria.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Tom Stimeling says the crash occurred at around 1:15 P.M., when a pickup truck hauling a trailer was traveling northbound on Knoxville near Crestwood.
“And then just veered off the road, took out the odd side telephone pole, an Ameren electrical pole, and then went through a couple yards and came to rest at a house,” Stimeling said.
Stimeling estimates the truck traveled about 100 yards before hitting the house, going about a foot inside of it.
The crash damaged the front window of the house.
Stimeling says the truck’s driver was conscious and alert, and didn’t have to be extricated from the vehicle. He says the driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
None of the house’s occupants were injured, but were shaken up, with Stimeling saying they were in different parts of the home at the time.
No word yet on if Peoria Police will issue any citations.
