PEORIA, Ill. – The identity of the victim from Monday night’s fatal shooting in South Peoria has been revealed.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office says 20-year-old James A. Irby was found without a pulse and not breathing.
He was taken to OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center, and pronounced dead in the trauma room at 10:53 P.M.
The shooting occurred in the area of S. Stanley and W. Grinnell at around 10:15 P.M.
An autopsy revealed that Irby suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body, with injuries inconsistent with life. The report also indicates Irby likely died instantly.
No suspect information has been revealed, and the shooting remains under investigation.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police are investigating a shooting-turned-homicide Monday night.
Officers found a man with gunshot wounds around 10:15 p.m. on S. Stanley Street, near W. Grinnell.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died. This appears to be Peoria’s 21st homicide of the year.
Details will come from the Peoria County coroner. There’s no word on suspects.
