CHICAGO, Ill. – The Environmental Protection Agency says it’s reached a settlement with a local ethanol producer over air pollution violations.
The EPA says Alto Pekin LLC and Alto ICP LLC have been fined a total of just more than $501,000, and they must make changes to Carbon Dioxide emissions scrubbers.
The facilities are accused of violating the national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants for miscellaneous organic chemical manufacturing along with other conditions of state permits issued.
The violations involved fiber dryers, CO2 scrubbers, and fermentation tanks.
