PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man was found guilty Wednesday for the rape of a woman he reportedly did not know in 2020.
Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos says Marquiese Talley, 32, was found guilty of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and Armed Robbery during a two-day bench trial.
Talley reportedly committed the assault as the woman was leaving her apartment to go to work on July 9th, 2020.
He reportedly ran up from behind, held a gun to her head, and threatened to shoot and kill her if she did not comply.
Talley was identified through DNA evidence.
Prosecutors in closing arguments said the case was “every woman’s nightmare” and called Talley a “dangerous sexual predator.”
He will be sentenced March 6th.
Talley was also found guilty in December 2021 of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and Armed Robbery for a incident that took place two weeks prior to the one he was found guilty of this week. He was sentenced to 80 years in prison in March of 2022 in that case.
