CHICAGO – More assisted living facilities under the Peoria-based Petersen Healthcare umbrella are now no longer under the company’s control.
Documents filed Thursday in federal court in Chicago indicate nine Petersen Health Care facilities are targeted this time after a judge granted an emergency receivership order – among them are Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin, Fondulac Rehab and Health Care in East Peoria, and facilities in Canton and Bloomington.
That’s in addition to the eight already in receivership. In all cases, Petersen allegedly failed to pay on loans owed to several different companies.
In one of the federal lawsuits, Petersen claimed to be both the victim of a ransomware attack impacting billing, and that it intended to file bankruptcy, but couldn’t because it can’t secure insurance.
Petersen Healthcare has owned facilities in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, and Alabama.
