PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury Tuesday indicted two people of trying to meet up with minors to have sex – both in separate cases.
The grand jury formally filed one count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child against Gary Sherwin, 65, of Roodhouse. A task force that Chillicothe Police is a part of arrested Sherwin March 4.
The indictment claims Sherwin went to Chillicothe intending to have sexual contact with a child. The task force last week said at least two potential victims could have been involved.
Sherwin was released from custody last week after his arrest, and is scheduled to be arraigned May 2.
The grand jury also returned an indictment against Cameron McNutt, 24, of East Peoria, on charges of Grooming and Indecent Solicitation of a Child.
An indictment claims McNutt used the Internet to try to convince a child to have sex with him around February 24.
McNutt is out of jail, but is scheduled to return to court to be arraigned March 28.
