PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – An off-duty Peoria County Sheriffs Deputy is at least temporarily off the job after allegedly being caught drunk driving in his squad car, and causing a crash.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says Jacob Marion, 26, was arrested by Illinois State Police and taken to jail on charges of Driving Under the Influence.
Jail records indicate Marion is no longer in custody.
Watkins says he was notified around 9:00 p.m. Sunday of an off-duty deputy who crashed his marked squad car near Farmington and Tower Roads.
Marion has been employed with the department since 2019, and is on administrative leave until an internal investigation is done.
