PEORIA, Ill. – A traffic stop in Peoria led to the arrest of a man on drug and weapons charges Monday afternoon.
Peoria Police say officers made contact with two males at the stop just after two-15 P-M.
One of the males, 20-year-old Keith Hamilton, reportedly had a heavy object in his front sweatshirt pocket, then fled on foot.
He was taken into custody after a brief chase in the area of Morgan and Madison.
Police reportedly found a discarded handgun on the chase path Hamilton took, and crack cocaine on his person.
Hamilton was arrested for Armed Violence, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Resisting Police, and an Active Warrant.
He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
